Disturbing The Peace! Cats on narrowboats.

I had just sat down with a nice cup of tea and a lovely book about the Kings and Queens throughout British history when along came these hooligans. Excuse my poor camera work. I am now covered in my tea and am left wondering why I thought cats on boats was such a good idea!

Oh you gotta love them! That's why cats on boats is such a good idea. How about an inside photo from one end of the boat to the other. It amazes me just how much space there is. Love it!

I'm thinking of getting a narrow boat and I have an 18 month old male cat. Do yours like living aboard?

Hi Izzie,

Our oldest cat (Lolly) was a stray and chose to move in of her own accord. Lewsey, we decided to get as company for Lolly. They are both generally very good. Lolly has fallen in 4 times in 3 years, and Lewsey has tumbled in a least 14 times in 6 months! Cats are very good swimmers though and manage to use the fenders to haul themselves out. They love exploring when we move the boat and so far have always returned to us. I think they see Rob and I as home as opposed to the environment they live in... on the basis that they haven't left us yet I'm going to assume that they do like living aboard! We know a few people who live on the cut with their cats and don't seem to have any major problems at all. I think it would be far easier to live aboard with a cat than a dog.
I hope you do decide to get a narrowboat - it is such a lovely way to live.

x Valonia.

Anyone got any tips on how to make it work out ? I worry about them wandering off when they don't know the environment durings periods of cruising ..
